Although ...Disagree with your viewpoint Mr. Shukla. Although the world may have noticed more about Kashmir recently, it's also because world notices more nowadays. Here are some counter arguments to your narrative which is obviously as an Indian looking at the world and not as the how the world looks at India and Kashmir.
1. US liberal media has lost its credibility in US public. Never before I have seen average American so disenfranchised with mainstream media. The editorials and opinions of NYT, Huff Post etc. fall on deaf ears in congress that is in control of republicans and has little sway on public opinion. So please stop worrying what NYT writes and look at what Breitbart says. Average American dislikes Muslims and many outright hate them. No Islamic nation will hold water against democratic, secular and most importantly- anti-Islamic India.

2. The Islamic world is in trouble. Everywhere there is violence and anarchy. Even rich Gulf nations are in serious financial trouble due to falling trade, travel and oil prices. It is natural for that madness to siphon in Kashmir. But compared to rest of the Islamic world, Kashmir is as peaceful as Jordan or Turkey. There will be little time to discuss Kashmir on world stage when Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan are dominating concerns.

3. Pakistan: there's no leverage left for Pakistan to use on world stage. It is international pariah. They seem relevant sitting in Delhi but in US, or even Europe there is no love left for Pakistan.

4. World order. The old dimensions are changing. There's not much West can do to make counties like China and India do things they don't want. There are "freedom" struggles in USA and U.K.! It is not difficult to put any interfering country to put it in its place. For example, over 2000 unarmed Americans were killed by US police last year.

Please continue writing about weapon systems and interesting information about Indian defense. This article is just far fetched paranoia Dujacnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-67715298596632203712017-05-02T04:25:54.127-07:002017-05-02T04:25:54.127-07:00Modi's policy is clear --- Keep Kashmir boilin...Modi's policy is clear --- Keep Kashmir boiling, which will make rest of India hate muslims even more, which will make hindus vote for him even more, irrespective of his near atrocious performance in last 3 years. The point, however, is not Modi. India is much bigger than Modi and BJP. Can India live with ruling a place where the people simply reject it? This is definitely not democracy.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09121677855050308582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-36492233985917299152017-05-02T03:40:32.256-07:002017-05-02T03:40:32.256-07:00I wonder, when Col Shukla says that "the Kash...I wonder, when Col Shukla says that "the Kashmiri street can be quietened by initiating a dialogue process with multiple stakeholders in the Valley, including the separatists" exactly what sort of dialogue he has in mind. They want Azadi, nothing less; and are willing to take to the gun, or the stone if a gun cannot be had, at risk of their lives. What should be our counter offer? Other than promising them more dollops of cash for various "development schemes" from Delhi - which has borne no result over many decades - what new carrot does Delhi have to offer? After having done nothing to take back PoK for 70 years, we have now woken up and decided to take issue with the Chinese for recognizing what has been fact for decades ... that Pakistan controls PoK.

This has no solution. Other than to use the minimum force that we can apply to crush the unrest; to destabilize Pakistan and accelerate its further dismemberment; to keep the Chinese at bay by talking them to their senses over Tibet; and to settle South Kashmir with migrants from other states in India so as to alter demographics over coming years. Meanwhile the poor Jawan and Policeman will bear the brunt as he always has ... reward him and his survivors well. And yes, appoint a half decent Defense Minister and get on with strengthening the forces.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-6549577245596672072017-05-01T20:54:32.847-07:002017-05-01T20:54:32.847-07:00Ajai, a very well articulated piece, as usual from...Ajai, a very well articulated piece, as usual from you. I have observed increasingly palpating sentiment amongst Indian intelligentsia about Kashmiris' plight. People are noticing Kashmir Insurgency drawing larger share of fuel indigenously.
