I think UK too should join the FREMM program now that GCS is increasingly looking like the former (5500 tons).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-43987980245413847042011-08-13T03:38:51.769-07:002011-08-13T03:38:51.769-07:00How has China done it?
You mean to say Uk is not ...How has China done it?

You mean to say Uk is not interested in China? It is China who do not need the other side.

We do need to find an alternative to our dependence on others. That means our own capability and not a shift from one country to the other.

We need a sytem wherein someone teaches you how to catch a fish rather than supplying fish to you. If Russian do not do that then let someone else do that.

Yes, one may have to pay higher to one who teaches you rather than one who supplies you.

What to do when one has been betrayed and dismayed by those DRDO kinds on whom the country reposed the faith.

The other history of let down in war and national defence would be written on DRDO, I am sure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-25135197265110744462011-08-13T00:11:18.195-07:002011-08-13T00:11:18.195-07:00Something worth thinking about. UK warship-building is a premier global industry and if we can structure a deal whereby an Indian shipyard gets a foothold in this industry it could well be worth it.

But the devil will lie in the details in terms of transfer of tehcnical capability and intellectual property.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-22657980905530975852011-08-12T19:27:29.472-07:002011-08-12T19:27:29.472-07:00U.K stan is going through the most difficult times...U.K stan is going through the most difficult times. Just like we pulled out the Russian ship building industry, they want us to help them as well. I see no benefit for us doing so. It's better if we can ensure that we build our own ship and speedup the process using various modern techniques. Also the private shipyards better start with production of patrol vessels and move up the ladder. There is nothing that can replace experience. The Navy designs can be produced rather than importing some foreign designs and building them here. L&T better speedup the process of producing the five Naval offshore patrol vessels awarded to them. Complete it fast and then bid for the building of corvettes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-81724669637088862382011-08-12T14:29:37.361-07:002011-08-12T14:29:37.361-07:00A real good idea for mutual benefit of all concern...A real good idea for mutual benefit of all concerned. In my opinion, there is no need to invest, co-develop (in reality buy a Brtish design) and then let Privet shipyard make only for Indian Navy.

So, i don't think we have anything to gain from this offer. However, if this British offer has rather had an Indian shipyard becoming the sole constructor for every customer, then it would have been other thing.Rahulnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-91116594205237194002011-08-11T23:41:34.102-07:002011-08-11T23:41:34.102-07:00Seems like a good opportunity for a private player...Seems like a good opportunity for a private player.
