The most senior of them are ten years younger than him, which means that they were 2nd/Lts when he was a senior company commander and they were company commanders when he was their brigade commander. So there's an element of awe and habitual obedience as well.

We're still waiting tho' to see how comprehensively he turns the army onto the jehadis. For sure, he'll try everything else first; they are now talking about a renewed deal. But all that is likely to fall through because the jehadis don't want to play ball any longer.

So compromise is an unlikely outcome.... that's my view!Ajai Shuklahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16488839157370084666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-11157492512225011662007-07-24T14:28:00.000-07:002007-07-24T14:28:00.000-07:00Good analysis. I am yet to see proof of that. Are all corps commanders with Musharraf? Is ISI on-board? Though with the alignment of interests of all major external players (US, China, India), Musharraf does seem to be in a very strong position.Manuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10316927735571151982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-4593606530001175912007-07-18T01:47:00.000-07:002007-07-18T01:47:00.000-07:00Comment on today's Article (July 17) on Pakistan: ...Comment on today's Article (July 17) on Pakistan:

While it is true, that India has mostly kept quiet about the Lal Mazjid ongoings in Pakistan, in view that such utterances can prove to be 'the kiss of death' to borrow words from our ex-defence minister Jaswant Singh, please do take note that recently, when the PM was at Jammu for an official visit, he did mention turning the line of control into line of peace, using the occasion to send a message to Pakistan, that India is watching.Agarwalgaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04232526858637411379noreply@blogger.com
